Robert joined the staff of Temple Beth Or in January 2011. He hails from Charlotte where he spent most of his life. He is happy to be in the Triangle area once again as he is a true-blue tar heel, having graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Robert began a 21-year career at Charlotte’s Temple Israel as its first full-time Youth Director and later became their first Executive Director. Robert strives to keep the staff and volunteers on the ‘same page’ helping to steer all toward accomplishing the spiritual, educational, and program goals of the Temple. He also helps define and implement the vision for membership, fundraising, and communications.
Before coming to Temple Beth Or, Robert spent five years working with his brother in the retail world, still serving the Jewish community, at Gleiberman’s Kosher Mart and Restaurant in Charlotte. Robert’s entire life’s work has been centered around the Jewish community, and he’s happy he has been able to continue that at Temple Beth Or. And we at TBO are happy about that, too!
Robert and his wife, Lynn Langman, have two children, Lauren and Daniel.
Lexie Hallman Nuell,
Director of Jewish Music
Zemer Lexie joined our staff in 2008. A native of Kansas City and a graduate of the University of Kansas, she studied music and literature and completed a Bachelor of Art in Political Science with a minor in English. Lexie’s career began in 2005 at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah in Overland Park, KS. She served there for two years as Youth Director and Children’s Music Educator.
In her years at TBO, Lexie has worked hard to keep TBO’s love of music and communal singing going strong. With the help of Rabbi Dinner and the musicians in her Band from the Bimah, Lexie created monthly music focused services; originally Shabbat Simcha in the sanctuary and now Shabbat Alive in our Satisky Hall. In 2013, Lexie became the coordinator of TBO’s B’nai Mitzvah and Chavurot programs.
Lexie serves as a non-denominational trauma Chaplain at Raleigh’s WakeMed Hospital and has completed over 800 hours of clinical chaplaincy work. In 2015, she served as Chaplain to the Helen Wright Center for Homeless Women in Wake County. She is currently working towards the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education’s certification in Chaplaincy.
Lexie enjoys interfaith music work and loves any opportunity to sing with folks from all faith traditions in our community.
Lexie is married to Isaac Nuell and is proud to be the mother of a true Beth Or baby, Mira Hallman-Poran, born in April 2010.
Religious School Principal
Daniella joined our staff as our school principal in July, 2015. She had previously been a Hebrew and Judaic studies teacher for several years at TBO where she developed strong relationships with students and parents. The 2014-15 and 2015-16 confirmation classes voted her to be one of the two former teachers whom they honored at their confirmation commencement.
Daniella is a participant in Cohort 6 of The Matan Institute. The mission of Matan is to ensure that every Jewish student has access to a meaningful Jewish education and that one’s special needs never become a barrier to full participation in Jewish life.
Daniella previously worked at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she served as an administrator for educational and youth programs. Prior to White Memorial, she worked as the administrator of the East Brunswick Jewish Center of East Brunswick, New Jersey (1,200 family Synagogue with religious day school and Hebrew school) and as the office manager of Ramah Day Camp of Central New Jersey.
