Thank you for joining us for our series on the Holocaust.   These incredible programs will impact you well after they are over.

February 1:  Against All Odds:  A story of incredible Holocaust survival presented by Susan Bach

Determination to survive against all odds is the theme of the true, amazing events of Yoseph and Chaim Abramowitz, brothers whose lives took horrific turns during the Holocaust.  This presentation is about the miraculous experiences of these two young men who each escaped from a Nazi forced labor ghetto.  Susan Bach shares the remarkable story of her father and uncle, who miraculously survived unthinkable horrors and were reunited in the partisan troupe that is credited as the largest number of Jews saved by Jews during the Shoah.  Susan Bach is a Second-Generation Holocaust survivor, whose Eastern European parents survived the Shoah.

February 8:  Holocaust to Hope presented by Chaim Poran, PhD, PE

Dr. Poran is the son of two Holocaust survivors, a second-generation survivor (“G-2"). His mother was born in Kreva, Belarus. As a young teenager, she endured the horrors of the Kovno ghetto, the Stutthof concentration camp, and in January 1945, survived a death march of the retreating Nazis. After years of recuperation, she immigrated to Israel in 1950.  His father was born in Krakow, Poland. As a teenager, he escaped the invading Nazis and fled into Russia. In 1942 he returned to Nazi-occupied Poland where his family members were murdered. He survived the rest of the war in hiding.  In 1948 he immigrated to Israel and joined the Israeli army to defend the new state during Israel’s Independence War. His parents met and were married in Israel in 1951.  They both since passed away in Israel.

February 15:  "Swastika Nation" -- The German-American Bund presented by  Margaret DeSevo, PhD

The Friends of New Germany and, more important, the German-American Bund, organizations exclusively for Aryan German-Americans, were active in the U.S. from 1933 to our entry into WWII.  Learn about their goals and activities in a presentation of “Swastika Nation.”
