Refugee Resettlement Central

The Refugee Resettlement Subcommittee of the Tikkun Olam Committee is excited to announce that we will be welcoming and working with a family from Afghanistan who is resettling in Raleigh.    They will be working with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) which is a non-profit organization that welcomes and supports refugees and migrants entering the United States.

This is where we need our entire TBO family! Our adopted family, mom, dad, and three children, ages 5, 3, and 1, will need all of us. The Torah teaches: “'Speak unto the children of Israel and instruct them to bring for me gifts; everyone whose heart so moves shall bring gifts unto God.” (Lev. 25:2). Our Afghan family will need the rich diversity of gifts of our community. They will need tutors to help them learn English; mentors to teach them how to navigate an American grocery store; job coaches; and more.

Thank you so much for joining us in this mitzvah!
